             Search different reliable videos or read from other sources on preparation of
             different fruit smoothies.

               (i)   Explain  the  way  you will use the  knowledge  obtained  from  these
                     sources.
               (ii)  Prepare a fruit smoothie of your own choice.
               (iii)   Explain the importance of the prepared fruit smoothie.



          Negative effects of beverages
          Beverages play signifi cant roles in our bodies; however, unhealthy beverages may
          have some negative effects. These beverages include artifi cially sweetened juice,
          carbonated drinks and alcoholic drinks. These drinks have adverse impacts on body
          health when consumed in excess. For example, they may cause overweight and obesity
          and increase the risk of non-communicable diseases, such as cardiovascular diseases
          and type 2 diabetes. Overconsumption of caffeine and tannin in coffee and tea may
          also lead to stimulating and dehydrating effects on the body, particularly anxiety and
          insomnia. Likewise, pregnant women should reduce or avoid consuming caffeinated
          drinks, because they may increase the risk of miscarriage.

          Alcoholic beverages have both stimulating and depressing effects. They are stimulants
          because they alert, awake and energise the body. However, prolonged consumption
