Importance of studying Textile and Garment Construction
Textiles and garment construction play a critical role in several industries, especially
in fashion manufacturing and design. Studying this subject is crucial for understanding
the technical and creative process behind clothing construction.The ability to create
successful textiles and garments can repay you throughout your life. The competencies
developed will enable you to recognise how and why pattern pieces are joined in a
particular way in order to produce quality garments. Through experiences in this
subject, you can create your own garments and feel proud of your work instead of
relying on ready-made garments. With enough skills in the craft of sewing, you can
create clothing that is attractive to the eye in terms of colour, texture, and shape that
no one else currently has. The skills can also be used to change or repair worn-out
clothing, hence saving money.

The developed talents can be utilised to design a variety of garments and household
articles that can be sold to get money. Also, the candidates will develop the basic skills
