Bleaching agent: Ableaching agent is
a chemical substance used to whiten or
lighten materials by removing colour
or stains from fabric like cotton and
linen, through oxidation or reduction
process. For example, caustic soda is a
strong alkali used in garment washing
to introduce an alkaline condition that
gives a good appearance to the clothes.

Resizing: This refers to the application
of chemical solutions to strengthen
fabric threads to reduce shrinkage when
washing. The solution will make the
thread shrink or swell depending on
how much solution is applied and how
long it has been exposed to the solution.
After this process, the fabric must be
dried so that the thread can hold its new
shape. Refer to Figure 1.6 showing the
application of detergent in washing
clothes to strengthen fabric thread. Figure 1.6: Application of detergent in
