(ii) Slightly flared skirt
Copy basic skirt pattern including darts and hip line.
Front and back
Fold darts and slash from bottom line to dart point 1-2 to get the flare. If the yoke
is required, draw in the shape of yoke as indicated by the dotted line on the front
only. Refer to Figure 8.9.

(iii) Circular skirt
Trace basic front and back skirt pattern with hipline and dart.
Front part
Divide front part of pattern into three equal sections at the waist and at bottom line.
Divide dart width by two and transfer each half into section line as indicate in
Figure 8.8 on flared skirt. Fold darts and slash along the section lines to the waist
line and spread the sections apart until the side seam is at right angle (90 ) to the

centre front. 1-2 must be a quarter of waist measurement.
Back part
Make the back part pattern in the same way as for the front. Smoothly curve the bottom
line of skirt before cutting as shown in Figure 8.10.
