(v) Gathered skirt
A pattern is again not required.

Calculate the width required by multiply waist measurement by 2-3 depending on the
type of material and fullness required. Refer to Figure 8.12

(vi) Panelled skirt

Trace basic pattern together with darts.
1-2 8-10 cm

3-3 14-16 c. Draw in the panel line 2-4.

5 Mark grain of thread as shown in Figure 8.13 (a). & (b)

6 Mark notches on panel line 2-4 as shown in Figure 8.13 (a) & (b).

Transfer darts into panel line 2-4 as shown in Figure 8.13 c.

Cut along panel lines to get seam lines.

Note: For a skirt with a box pleat along the panel line at the centre, add 6-8 cm. On
each side of panel line 2-4.
