Basting process of temporary joining fabric layers, such as in making a
collar or belt.
Bias binding is a strip of material cut on the bias for extra stretch used for
binding hems, interfacing or for decoration.
Bias an edge cut diagonally across the threads of a piece of fabric.
A true bias is cut at a 45-degree angle to the grain line.
Casing a folded over edge of fabric or an application applied separately
to the garment. The result is used to enclose a drawstring tie or
elastic.
Checked fabric a pattern of stripes consisting of crossed horizontal and vertical
lines forming squares.
Clipping making small short cuts on the edge of a fabric, especially on
the curved edges to lie smoothly
