Sewing equipment and tools

Every process in garment making requires specific sewing equipment and tools. Suitable
sewing equipment and tools help to make sewing easier and perfect. Knowledge of the
tools and equipment used in sewing and their functions is necessary for proper use and
care. This will make them last longer. Sewing tools and equipment may be classified
according to their functions as discussed in this section:

Measuring tools: Measuring tools are used to take body and garment measurements
and; drafting pattern for a perfect fit or adjustments. Therefore, for accurate measuring,
proper tools should be used. The following are among the important measuring tools
to be kept in the sewing kit or cupboard, as shown in Table 1.1:
