Stitching tools: Stitching tools are of various types, including needles of assorted sizes.
(i) Needles: The size and shape of the needle vary from 1 to 10 inches, depending
on the type and work to be done. The larger the number, the fine the needle. For
delicate fabrics, use a finer needle. For heavy fabrics, use a coarser needle. A sewing
needle should have sharp points and smooth eyes so that it does not snag the fabric
or split the thread. The needle should be kept in a dry place, free from rust. Store
it in a sewing kit when it is not in use. There are different types of needles used in
sewing, as shown in Table 1. 5.

needle is long so that it can take the
embroidery thread and prevent the
thread from fraying or breaking, but
the length is similar to that of sharps

Darners Used for darning. These are
long with long narrow eyes for
accommodating thicker darning
thread
