Roles of lighting
The roles of lighting in theatrical performances is to:
(a) Present the mood of the performance and performers on the stage.
(b) Create a sense of reality for the audience such as portraying the time of the
day, for example, morning, evening or night.
(c) Change scenes on the stage through light on and light off.
Activity 1.2
Visit a nearby place where theatrical performances take place or search for
theatrical performances available on online sources and observe how theatre and
visual elements are used in the performances.
(a) Prepare a list of questions to be used as a guideline for recording the
information during your observation.
(b) Use the experience to improvise a short performance about any theme of
your choice. In your performance, focus on the use of elements of theatre.
