              Maize grain is a valuable food source, rich in carbohydrates and containing some
              protein in its outer layers. Proper processing helps retain the outer layers and
              hence, preserves their protein content. It is an essential crop for food, animal
              feed, and industrial use in Tanzania and beyond. Additionally, it is a valuable
              export commodity.


               Activity 2.1
              Use ICT devices, the library or an atlas to explore:

              1.  Major maize-producing regions in Tanzania;

              2.  Conditions favouring the production of maize;

              3.  Various uses of maize and maize products; and
              4.  Internal and external markets for maize products.
