              Downy mildew: This is a fungal disease that causes white or grey patches on
              sorghum leaves. Infected plants become weak and stunted and may fail to produce
              healthy grains. Downy mildew can be identified by light-coloured patches on
              leaves and slow plant growth. It can be managed by using resistant sorghum
              varieties, avoiding planting sorghum in the same field every season, and applying
              fungicides or organic sprays to reduce fungal infections. Figure 3.3 (d) shows
              symptoms of downy mildew in sorghum.
