Introduction

This textbook, Mathematics Pupil’s Book for Standard Four, is
written in accordance with the 2023 Mathematics Syllabus for
FOR ONLINE READING ONLY
Primary Schools issued by the Ministry of Education, Science
and Technology. This is the second edition after the improvement
of the Standard Four Textbook published in 2019, based on 2016

syllabus.

The book consists of ten chapters, namely, Roman numbers;

Multiplication of whole numbers, Division of whole numbers;
Measurements of length, mass and volume; Perimeters of plane
figures; Area of plane figures; Fractions; Decimals; Measurements
of time and Tanzanian Currency. The competencies developed

will enable you to acquire basic mathematical skills and their
applications, logical thinking and solve real life problems.

You are advised to engage yourself and with friends in all activities
and exercises in this book in order to develop the intended
competencies.
