Preface

This textbook, Mathematics for Secondary Schools, is written specifically for
Form Three students in the United Republic of Tanzania. The book is prepared in

accordance with the 2023 Mathematics Syllabus for Ordinary Secondary Education,
Form I-IV, issued by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology. It is a
revised edition of Basic Mathematics for Secondary Schools Student’s Book Form
Three that was published in 2021 in accordance with the 2005 syllabus issued by
the then, Ministry of Education and Vocational Training (MoEVT).

The textbook consists of five chapters, namely; Relations, Functions, Linear
programming, Sequences and series, and Circles. Each chapter comprises of
activities, illustrations, and exercises. You are encouraged to do all activities and
exercises together with any other assignment provided by your teacher. Doing so,
will promote the development of the intended competencies.
