2.   Providing resources  and directions:  Direct  students  to  the
               Copyright Society of Tanzania (COSOTA) website (www.cosota.
               go.tz) and provide information on how to navigate the site. Also
               emphasise them to use additional resources such as articles, videos,

               or textbooks that cover royalties, copyright laws, and the music
               industry.

           3.   Guiding and exploration: Clearly outline the key areas students
               need to explore that is Concept and significance of royalties, factors
               influencing royalty rates and agreements, benefits and challenges
               of royalty arrangements and impact of royalties on the music and
               entertainment industry dynamics.

           4.   Facilitating visits and  practical exploration: If possible,
               organise  a  visit  to  the  COSOTA  office  for  students  to  gather
               firsthand information. Guide students on how to effectively use
               the COSOTA website and other online resources. Also, facilitate
               group discussions where students can share findings and insights
               with their peers and lead a discussion on the different perspectives
               and insights shared in the reports.

           Chapter teaching guide

            Here are the primary points to consider on this chapter:

           1.   Fundamental concepts

               (a)  Definition of royalties: Explain what royalties are, focusing
                    on their nature as payments made for the use of assets such
                    as intellectual property (IP), natural resources, or franchises.

               (b)  Parties involved: Discuss the roles of licensors (owners of
                    the asset) and licensees (users of the asset).
