Word problems involving measurements of time
Word problems involving measurements of time show how they
           are used in real life.

          FOR ONLINE READING ONLY
                  Example 1

Nuru spends 1 hour and 20 minutes to wash dishes. She also
spends 1 hour 35 minutes to water the garden. What is the
total time spent by Nuru on these activities?

             Solution

Time for washing dishes = 1 hour 20 minutes
Time for watering the garden = 1 hour 35 minutes

Add the time for the activities as follows:
                               hours minutes
                                 1 20

                              + 1 35

                                 2 55

Therefore, Nuru spends 2 hours 55 minutes to do all activities.

                  Example 2

A timetable of a certain school starts at 8:45 in the morning and

ends at 4:40 in the evening. What is the daily duration of the
             school timetable?

             Solution

Convert the time into 24 hours format.
             Starting time = 0845
             Ending time =1640

Duration = Ending time – Starting time
             Subtract the measurements as follows:

                                                  158

                                                                                          06/11/2024 17:18:00
