A poultry farmer sold 38 eggs and earned a total of 17,126
shillings and 60 cents. What was the price of each egg?

Total sales = shs 17126 cts 60

Number of eggs = 38

Divide the sales by the number of eggs.

Therefore, the farmer sold each egg at 450 shillings and

70 cents.

Example 3

Eliakimu was paid a total of 68,763 shillings and 80 cents
after working for one week. Calculate his daily wage.

Solution
Total payment = shs 68763 80 cts

Number of days = 7

Divide the payments by number of days.
Payments per day= shs 68763.80 ÷ = 7 9823.4

= 9823.4

Therefore, Eliakim’s daily wage is 9,823 shillings and 40

cents.
