5. The Roman numbers V, L, and D cannot be subtracted
in other numbers.
6. The Roman numbers I, X, and C can be subtracted from

(a) I can be subtracted from V and X only, for example IV
and IX.
(b) X can be subtracted from L and C only, for example
XL and XC.
(c) C can be subtracted from D and M only, for example
CD and CM.
7. The number I, X, and C can be written by repeating up
to three times consecutively. For example; III, XXX, and
CCC.
