Word problems involving measurements of volume
Word problems involving measurements of volume highlight the
use of metric units of volume in real-life situations. They reflect
the activities performed every day.
Example
A cow produces 20 litres of milk every day. How many
millilitres of milk will the cow produce in 3 days?
Solution
1 Day: 20 litres
= 3 days 3 × = 20 L 60 L
Convert 60 L into millilitres as follows.
1 L =1000 mL
60 L = 60 × 1000 mL
= 60000 mL
So, the cow will produce 60,000 millilitres of milk in 3 days.
