Tuber: This is a fleshy storage organ formed from either a stem or a root. An
examples of a stem tuber is Irish potato while an example of a the root tuber is
sweet potato (See Figure 6.10).

Taproot: Some taproots such as those of carrot, sugar beet, and beetroot are
specialised for food storage (See Figures 6.11).
Corm: This is an underground storage
organ formed from the plant stem. It
is a mass of solid tissues with a dry
papery cover made of modified leaves.
Examples of corms are yams, cocoyams
and crocuses (See Figure 6.12).
