Altitude Height of a point above the mean sea level measured vertically

Anemometer Instrument for measuring wind speed
Aphelion Point in the orbit of a planet, asteroid, or comet which is the
furthest from the sun
Atmosphere Layer of gases surrounding the earth or another planet
Atmospheric Pressure exerted by the weight of the atmosphere, which at
pressure sea level, has a mean value of 760 mmHg
Autumn Season of the year, which comes after summer, when leaves
fall from trees. In the northern hemisphere it occurs from
September to November, and in the southern hemisphere from
March to May
Axis Imaginary line about which a body rotates
Cartography Science or practice of drawing maps
Centrifugal force Force that directs a body away from the center around which
the body is moving
Centripetal force Force that directs a body towards the center around which the
body is moving
Circumnavigation Sailing all the way around the world
Environment Surroundings or conditions in which living organisms operate
Equator Zero (0 ) latitude, dividing the earth into two equal halves

Galaxy Massive collection of stars and interstellar matter isolated in
space which are held together by gravitational attraction
Gravitational Force that pulls heavenly bodies towards each other or
force towards the source body
Great circle Circle on the surface of a sphere that lies in a plane passing
through the sphere’s centre
