Advantages of rotational grazing feeding system
          (a) Productivity is high.

          (b) It allows the pasture to re-grow.
          (c) It allows more even manure distribution.

          (d) It can extend the grazing season due to good utilisation.
Challenges of rotational grazing feeding system
          (a) It needs high cost for fencing and provision of water.

          (b) Forage production and pasture utilisation may not be optimal.

          Tethering grazing system

In this system of grazing, animals are sent out into the pasture whereby each animal
is tied to a post, peg or tree by means of a tether. A tether can be a rope or chain.
While one end of the tether is tied onto a post, peg or tree, the other end of the tether
is tied on the neck or onto the leg of the animal. The animal is thus allowed to graze

the forage in the area which can be reached depending on the length of a tether.
When forage becomes eaten up in one area, the other end of the tether is shifted to
another post, peg or tree so that the animal gets fresh forage to eat. Tethering is often
practised to keep the animals under control. This is much cheaper but can mean

quite a lot of work; moving the animal twice daily to clean pastures, bringing the
animals in when it rains and out when it stops. Figure 5.16 shows a tethered goat.
