            3.  Milking is the process of harvesting milk from lactating animals such as dairy
                cattle and goats by either hand or machine milking. What are procedures for
                hand milking? Outline the advantages and challenges of hand milking.

            4.  Any kind of pig house, be it modern or traditional, should have important features
                which will help the pig to be in a comfortable place. Discuss the basic features of
                a pig house.
            5.  There is a saying that ‘Prevention is better than cureʼ. Discuss this statement
                with reference to disease and parasite management in livestock husbandry.

            6.  ‘It is more profitable to market processed livestock products than raw produceʼ.
                With reference to meat, milk, eggs and important livestock by-products, discuss
                how processing can be achieved in livestock farm(s).

            7.  Farm assets need to be valued at the end of every accounting period. Why is
                this exercise important? With the aid of examples, what method(s) are used in
                valuing farm assets?
            8.  Several  factors  related  to  soil  chemical  properties  influence  crop  production
                positively or negatively. Account for influences of cation exchange capacity, soil
                pH and carbon to nitrogen ratio in crop production. How can a farmer manage
                these factors so as to optimise soil utilisation for crop production?

            9.  Crop and livestock  production  have  plenty  of entrepreneurial  opportunities.
                By  considering  production chains  for various  crops  and  livestock,  identify
                entrepreneurial opportunities that exist. How could the identified opportunities
                be utilised to generate a profitable income?

            10. Fish farming has become a popular economic  enterprise both in rural and
                urban areas because it is simple to undertake and do not need high investments.
                Discuss the necessary considerations when selecting a site to construct an earth
                fish pond.
            11. In poultry farming, different practices are employed in different growth stages
                such as for chicks, growers, finishers and layers. Discuss the major management
                practices for chicks from the first day to fourth week.

            12. Once eggs are collected from the laying house, they should be well packed and
                stored or transported to market.

                 (a)  What are the important factors to consider when packaging and packing
                      eggs for storage and transport?
                 (b)  Why are the factors in 12 (a) important?
