Preface

This is the first guide in a series of two Teacher’s Guides on Business
Studies for Advanced Secondary Schools, Form V and VI. The guide
FOR ONLINE READING ONLY
is prepared with respect to the Student’s Book, which is in line with the
2023 Business Studies Syllabus for Advanced Secondary Education
Form V-VI issued by the Ministry of Education, Science, and
Technology. The guide is intended to help the teacher in facilitating
the intended knowledge and skills for students.

This guide consists of six chapters which are: Business environment,
Business units, Financing medium-sized businesses, Business regulatory
environment in Tanzania, Business registration in Tanzania, and Business
planning. It includes student’s learning activities, tasks, learning and
teaching resources as well as steps to be followed when facilitating
the students to learn. In addition, the guide provides model answers
for each exercise and guidance to perform the learning activities.
Similarly, the teacher is advised to use the real-world environment as
well as improvisation of the teaching and learning materials to enable
a student to develop the intended competencies. Therefore, the teacher
is advised to create, develop, and use other applicable teaching and
learning strategies.
