depending on factors such as word structure, syllable count and linguistic context.
English is considered a stress-timed language, meaning that its stressed syllables
occur at approximately regular intervals, leading to a rhythmic pattern in speech.
Incorrect stress placement can affect the meanings of words or phrases and may
lead to miscommunication. Understanding stress patterns is essential for accurate
pronunciation and clear communication in English.
(b) Pronounce the following words and identify stressed syllables in each of the words.
You may use dictionaries or internet sources to help you. Your task will become
easier if you first divide each word into its syllables.
