            Synopsis
Once a scriptwriter has developed the theme, characters, conflicts, plot and
the dramatic structure of the play or story, the next step is to write it down in
one particular document that can be used to communicate how interesting and
engaging the story is. At this stage, the scriptwriter needs a tool that is known
as a synopsis. Synopsis is a write-up or document that describes the plot and

world of your story. In screenplay writing, a synopsis is a brief summary of a
completed screenplay’s core concept, major plot points and main character arcs.
A scriptwriter primarily writes a script synopsis as a selling tool to convince
producers, funders or financiers to read the full screenplay. You can write a
brief synopsis or a long synopsis, depending on the goal. Brief synopsis or one
page synopsis is also known as a “one-pager”. One pager synopsis is a summary
of the story that your screenplay, radio play or stage play tells. The following is

            an example of a synopsis.
