map to indicate the directions of North, South, East, and West;
(e) draw a shape within the square or rectangle you created earlier,
representing the boundaries of the area to be mapped, in the
correct direction;

(f) use symbols to represent the key features in the mapped area,
ensuring they are oriented correctly. Start with the larger features
and then add the smaller ones;
(g) prepare a key that explains all symbols used in the simple map;
(h) Write the title of the simple map;
(i) ensure that all important features are shown on the map and
make adjustments as needed for improvement; and
(j) draw a square or rectangle (frame) around the map and all the
important elements.
Drawing a simple map of a classroom
The following are steps to follow when drawing a classroom
map showing objects such as the teachers’ table and chair,
students’ desks or table and chairs, the door, windows, and other
important items:
(a) Identify the size, shape, and direction of the classroom;
(b) Determine the shapes, sizes, and locations of important items
in the classroom;
(c) Prepare the area where you will draw a map of the classroom
by drawing a square or rectangle on the paper. Make sure you
leave space for the map title, key, and other explanations; and
(d) Follow the steps of drawing a simple map to create the classroom
map.
