Multiplication of currency in shillings and cents
              The Tanzanian currency in shillings and cents can be multiplied

              by  whole  numbers.  The  cents  are  multiplied  first  followed  by
              shillings. The relationship between shillings and cents must be
          FOR ONLINE READING ONLY
              used during the conversions.

              Note that,  cents are represented by two digits and
                            shs 1  = 100 cents.

                 Steps                                                    Solution


                 1.  Multiply 5 cents by 6: 5cts       × = 6  30cts       shs       cts
                      Write 30 in the cents column.                       50         05
                                                                          ×            6

                  2.  Multiply 50 shillings by 6:                         shs        cts

                      shs      × 50  = 6 shs 300. Write 300 in the        50         05
                      shillings column.                                   ×            6

                                                                          300      30


                 Therefore, the answer is shs 300 30 cts or shs 300.30.
