Materials: Hand lens, a bottle or coconut shell, fine mesh net
          FOR ONLINE READING ONLY
               Procedure

               1. Collect water from a stagnant pool that has been there

for a long time. Make sure the water has mosquito eggs
                    or larvae.

               2. Place some mosquito eggs or larvae from the water into
                    a bottle or coconut shell.

               3. After two days use a hand lens to observe water for
                    changes of eggs into larvae.

               4. Cover the bottle or coconut shell containing water with

larvae with a fine mesh net. Make sure it is securely
                    closed.

              Questions
                    (a) What did you observe during your investigation?

                    (b) Draw a diagram of mosquito development stages.

               Activity 5

Observe the stages of cockroach development in their natural

environment. Share your observations with your classmates
               for discussion.

Cockroaches lay eggs in a hard casing. They hide their eggs in
places that cannot be easily seen. The eggs hatch into nymphs
