Agriculture for Secondary Schools

Preface

This book, Agriculture for Secondary Schools, is written specifically for Form Three
students in the United Republic of Tanzania. It is prepared according to the 2019
Agriculture Syllabus for Secondary Schools, Form I - IV issued by the Ministry
of Education, Science and Technology. The book consists of 15 chapters; namely
production of crops, chemical properties of soil, planning for livestock enterprise,
livestock housing, feeding of livestock, management of livestock health, reproduction
and breeding of livestock, and handling and processing of livestock produce. Others
include poultry farming, dairy farming, meat production, fish farming, farm records
and accounting, inventory valuation in farming business as well as analysis of farm
records. Each chapter contains texts, illustrations, activities and exercises. You are
encouraged to do all the activities and attempt all the given exercises as well as
other assignments provided by your teacher. Doing so will enable you to develop
the intended competencies.
