(c) Provide sufficient clean water (ad libitum) using appropriate drinkers (refer
to Figure 9.8). Always refill the drinkers with clean water when emptied and
make sure water is replaced daily. If the chicks have been subjected to a long
period in transit, they are normally in need of water.

(d) Adhere to the disease control programmes as you have learnt from the previous
chapter of management of livestock health to ensure that your birds are in
good health condition. Vaccines are provided to the chicken to prevent them
against viral diseases like newcastle, infectious bursal disease (gumboro) and
fowl pox. A sample of vaccination schedule is shown in Table 9.2.
