          Procedures for machine milking
In machine milking, milk is removed from the udder by means of a milking
machine. The udder is prepared similar to hand milking. The milking machine has
clusters with four teats for cattle and two teats for goat (refer to Figures 10.8 (a)
and (b)). These clusters are connected in series of other machine parts to harvest
and convey the milk to the milk can or tank installed. The animal is restrained in a
pen/cubicle containing the machine. Detailed information on the parts and functions
of the milking machine can be obtained from the manufacturer’s instructions from
          websites or dairy technologists.
