Managerial operations in meat production
Management of animals for production of meat is a practice to group animals into
various herd groups that are lactating or nursing, pubertal, adult males, castrates
young growing animals and newly born nursed groups. This kind of grouping makes
management easier in performing the required operations such as breeding, feeding,
sales and other managerial practices. Table 11.3 shows names of herds of different
animal species raised for meat production.
