Small business registration in Tanzania
Introduction
Business registration serves as a fundamental step toward enhancing business
performance, which in turn influences overall economic growth. Sustainable
businesses and economic development cannot be achieved without the formal
registration of businesses within a country. In this chapter, you will learn about
the concept of business registration, the types of licences and certificates for small
businesses, procedures for registering small businesses, and sanctions for non-
compliance to small businesses in Tanzania. The competences developed will enable
you to register small businesses in Tanzania.

(a) List down all agencies where they have registered the businesses.
(b) Identify the types of documents they have submitted to acquire a business
licence.
(c) Describe the benefits they have gained by being registered.
(d) Explain the challenges they faced during the registration.
