(iii) Pin and tack the gusset on the under
arm part to be sewn.
The corners of the gussets should
match the seam line as well as the
centre back and front.

Procedures for setting in underarm gussets

(i) Mark the position where the gusset
is to be sewn. (iv) Stitch the gusset along the tacking
line and fasten off securely.
Trim and snip the corner then
press the turnings towards the
gussets. Do not round the corners.

(ii) Cut pieces of the gusset on the straight
grain fabric.

(v) Restitch from outside if desired
for extra strength. Overcast
seam if a finish is necessary.
