             Activity 7.1

              Make a sample of a shirt sleeve then

           Raglan sleeve:  This type of sleeve
           extends to the neckline  whereby long
           diagonal  seam that runs from armpit  is
           created. This gives the  seam a diagonal
           look from the neck to armpit. It is loose
           and comfortable to wear. It is commonly
           used on  T-shirts,  sweatshirts or sports
           jackets.  This type of sleeve can be
           prepared  in two ways; by either  joining
           the  side  seam  of  the  sleeve  first  or  by
           attaching  the cut sleeve diagonally
           to  the  bodice.  Refer  to  Figure  7.3.
                                                           Machine, then remove the tacking
                                                           stitch, press the sleeve seam open
                                                           and neaten the raw edge. Preferable
                                                           methods can be zigzag, overclock or
                                                           loops stitch.


                                                        (iii)  Turn the sleeve to the right side out,
                                                           finish the bottom of the sleeve using
                                                           a preferable method depending on the
                                                           style of the sleeve.
