Textiles and Garment Construction
Preface
This textbook, Textiles and Garment Construction for Secondary Schools, is written
specifically for Form Three students in the United Republic of Tanzania. It is written
in accordance with the 2019 Home Economics Syllabus for Ordinary Secondary
Education Form I - IV, issued by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology.
The book consists of ten chapters, namely Seams, Disposal of fullness, Openings,
Fastenings, Edge finishes, Collars, Sleeves, Pockets, Choice of fabrics in garment
construction, and Personal wardrobe. The book comprises descriptions, illustrations,
activities and exercises. You are encouraged to do all the activities and exercises
together with other assignments provided by your teacher. Doing so will enable you to
develop the intended competencies.
