            Selection of planting materials

Selecting the proper planting seeds or materials is crucial for successful crop
production. While some crops, like maize, rely on seeds, others use different
planting materials such as cuttings for cassava, vines for sweet potatoes, and
suckers for banana and sisal. The planting materials should be clean and sourced
from recommended institutions such as the Agricultural Seed Agency (ASA),
Tanzania Agricultural Research Institute (TARI), and private seed companies,
verified by the Tanzania Official Seed Certification Institute (TOSCI). Key factors
in determining the quality of seeds or planting materials include germination
