Preface

This textbook, Agriculture for Secondary Schools, is explicitly written for Form
Two students in the United Republic of Tanzania. It is prepared according to

the 2023 Agriculture Syllabus for Ordinary Secondary Education Form I - IV
issued by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology. Some of the
contents in this book have been adapted from the Agriculture for Secondary
Schools Student’s Book Form One (2021), Form Two (2021), and Form Three
(2022) which were published in accordance with the 2019 agriculture syllabus
for Ordinary Level Secondary Education, Issued by the Ministry of Education
Science and Technology.

The book consists of eight chapters: General principles and practices of the
production of crops, Banana production, Cassava production, Sweet potato
production, and Round potato production. Other chapters are General principles
and practices of livestock production, Pig production, and Rabbit production. Each
chapter contains texts, illustrations, activities, and exercises. You are encouraged
to do all the activities and attempt all the exercises and other assignments provided
by your teacher. Doing so will enable you to develop the intended competencies.
