FOR ONLINE READING ONLY
Introduction
Learning activities in standard pronunciation involve generating spoken language
content using accurate pronunciation, stress and intonation in British English.
The Standard Pronunciation of British English is the ‘Received Pronunciation’,
in short, referred as RP. In this chapter, you will articulate words and sentences;
describe objects, events, and situations; and participate in discussions on various
topical issues to practise standard pronunciation. The competencies developed will
enable you to access a wide range of materials tailored to your level, and enhance
your listening skills, vocabulary acquisition, and overall language production and
comprehension.
