               Exercise 2.2
As a member of scriptwriters’ club, new members have requested you
to explain to them the history of the emergence of script writing. Your
explanation should focus on verbal creation of scripts for ancient African
performances that link with the development of writings.

From a story to a script
The basis of every script is a story. Therefore, in order to write effective scripts,
it is important to understand what makes a story. A story is also called a narrative
or a tale. A story is a narration of connected series of real (nonfiction/real life)
or imaginary (fiction/made up or imaginary) events, involving real or imaginary
people. A story can be represented in words (written or spoken), imagery (still
or moving images), body language, performance, music or any other form of
communication. Stories are not life but rather they are the imitation of life. Stories
are how people learn about each other, their past and their cultures.
