Using ICT to teach Academic Communication
In simple terms, using technology in teaching makes learning Academic
Communication easier and more exciting and helps students become
better communicators. Using Information and Communication
Technology (ICT) in teaching Academic Communication is vital for
several reasons:
1. Engagement: ICT makes learning fun and exciting. Students enjoy
using computers, tablets, and other devices that keep them engaged
in lessons.
2. Visual learning: ICT can show pictures, videos, and interactive
activities to help students better understand English words and
concepts. You are advised to prepare audio and audio-visual texts
by searching the internet or recording and displaying them to the
class to strengthen your lessons.
3. Practise anytime: Students can practise outside the classroom on
computers or Apps, helping them to improve their English.
4. Individualised learning: ICT allows teachers to create lessons tailored
to each student’s level so that everyone can learn at their own pace.
5. Access to resources: With ICT, students can access a wealth of
online resources, like language Apps and websites, to enhance
their learning.
6. Communication: ICT helps students to communicate with people
from around the world and improves language skills and cultural
understanding.
