The Chinese language uses two writing systems: Chinese characters, which are the

characters. Pinyin uses the Latin alphabet and is a phonetic system. In this section,
students will learn Chinese pinyin, including initials, finals, tones, and spelling rules.
This chapter introduces pinyin as a starting point, guiding students into the world of the
Chinese language. Mastering pinyin enables students to learn the correct pronunciation
of Chinese characters, recognize and remember them more quickly, and effectively assists
students to learn Chinese by themselves, making it easier to communicate with others.
