Examples of performances that involve solo singing in Tanzania are such as
Bongo fleva, Singeli and Hip hop. Figure 6.1 shows an example of a solo singing
performance.

Ensemble singing
Ensemble is a French word, which means together. A musical ensemble is a
group of people performing music together. Singing in an ensemble can be vocal
or vocal-instrumental. In order to give out the best performance in any musical
ensemble, each musician has to perform according to their roles in a group.
Also, all musicians have to maintain coordination and communication among
themselves.

A vocal ensemble
A vocal ensemble is a musical performance which includes singing without
accompaniment of musical instruments. A vocal ensemble performance can also
be referred to as a cappella. A cappella means singing without accompaniment of
musical instruments. A vocal ensemble performance can be found in choirs, small
individual groups and general assemblies such as political gatherings. Figure 6.2
shows a vocal choir ensemble performance.
