(ii) Hay racks: Wire racks or bins hold hay, a crucial part of a rabbit diet.
They help to keep hay off the ground to avoid contamination.
(iii) Water bottles/bowls: Bottles with sipper tubes that attach to the side
of the cage. Alternatively, heavy, tip-resistant bowls made of concrete
(refer Figure 8.1) may be used . Ensures rabbits have access to clean,
fresh water at all times.
(iv) Nesting boxes: Boxes placed in the hutch or cage where does (female
rabbits) can give birth and care for their young. Often made of wood or
metal, filled with straw or soft bedding. Provides warmth and security
for new-born kits.
(v) Litter trays: These trays or pans are placed under the cages to collect
droppings. It makes it easier to clean and manage waste.
