Activity 3.1
FOR ONLINE READING ONLY
This activity aims to enable students to understand and categorise
different businesses in their locality based on their features.
Guidance on Activity 3.1
(a) Guide students in manageable groups to visit five (5) businesses
in their locality, and consult their owners or managers concerned
on the detailed information of their business such as the size of
the capital, and number of employees.
(b) Based on the information obtained in part (a) guide the students
to categorise those businesses in size according to Tanzania
SME Development policy of 2003.
(c) Use any appropriate method to have students present their
answers, and thereafter, provide constructive feedback as
explained in the student’s textbook.
Guidance and possible answers for Exercise 3.1
1. Adhere to the following steps in guiding the students to answer
the question:
(a) Every student must explain the meaning, features, and
importance of medium-sized businesses as guided in the
student’s textbook.
(b) Each student must prepare a short presentation on the
medium-sized businesses.
(c) Randomly select some students to share the presentations
with the rest of the class.
2. The comparison of medium-sized business with other
categories of businesses is done based on several features such
as the number of employees, and capital invested.
