(c) Read the following poem and complete the activities that follow.
Let me not to the marriage of true minds
Admit impediments. Love is not love
Which alters when it alteration finds,

Or, bends with the remover to remove.
O, no, it is an ever-fixed mark
That looks on tempests and is never shaken;
It is the star to every wandering bark
Whose worth’s unknown, although his height be taken.
Love is not time’s fool, though rosy lips and cheeks
Within his bending sickle’s compass come.
Love alters not with his brief hours and weeks,
But bears it out even to the edge of doom:
If this be error and upon me proved,
I never writ, nor no man ever loved.

1. Summarise in one paragraph the message you get from the poem.
2. Rewrite the poem in (c) using your own words. Stay as close to the original
message as possible.
(d) Play a Word Association game using the following guidelines.
1. Choose any setting such as a court, hospital, or airport.
2. Generate as many constructions in the chosen setting as possible.
3. Share your work with the class and explain the association between the
words you have generated and the setting you have chosen.
(e) Compose a text or a story based on specific register choose one of the following:
1. A short news article about a recent event in your neighbourhood
(journalism).
2. A story set in a rural village, focusing on the daily lives of the inhabitants
(religion).
3. A medical report about the symptoms of Malaria and its treatment plan
(medicine).
(f) Prepare a Register Role-Play Scenario on either a formal job interview or a
casual conversation among friends. Then, perform it in the class and, after the
performance engage in a discussion concerning the language used.
