(c) Audience-audience relationship: Thrust stage allows close relationship
among the audience due to the way seats are placed in the auditorium.
The audience sit closely while looking at each other.
Advantages of thrust stage
Performers prefer staging their theatrical performances on a thrust stage because
of the following advantages.
(a) The thrust stage accommodates large audience. A thrust stage is capable
of accommodating a large number of the audience. This is evident in its
sitting arrangement which allows the audience to sit in three sides of the
stage.
(b) It creates a sense of connection between performers and the audience.
This is possible due to the raised platform that extends into the auditorium
where the audience sit. Unlike the audience of a proscenium stage, its
audience feel actively engaged in the performance.
(c) Performers get immersed in the performance. Due to closeness to
audience, actors and actresses feel obliged to entertain the audience. With
this feeling, performers do their best to meet the audiences’ expectations.
