Figure 3. 11: A built Arena stage with aisles

                (c) It is difficult to perform in the arena stage. Since all sides are occupied
by the audience; performers can hardly manage to communicate with the
audience in all sides at the same time, unlike in the proscenium stage.

                (d) Possibility for the audience to interfere the performance is higher: Seats
are arranged closer to the stage in such a way that the audience can interfere
the performance. Interferences in arena stage are of two types. The first
one is that of audience from one side interacting with the audience of
the other side. This results from the sitting arrangement, which makes
them face each other. Another kind of interference can be caused by the
location of the stage, which is very close to audience. A stage located close
to the audience influences the audience to interfere with the performance
by joining the performers when they feel like doing so. For example,
the traditional arena stage permits a high level of interaction between
                    performers and the audience.
