Introduction

The Bible is the word of God to humankind. The Word of God has been granted
to people in different times and languages. The Bible has a message for human
salvation and sustainability. Salvation is a gift to man through faith as revealed
in the Bible. God instructs man through the Bible. Therefore, in this chapter, you
will learn about the concept of the Bible and Bible Knowledge, the classification
of the books in the Bible, the concept of the book of Genesis, the relationship
between Bible Knowledge and other subjects, and the importance of learning Bible
Knowledge. The competencies developed will enable you to explain the meaning
of the Bible, Bible Knowledge and its importance, such as to know God’s will,
solving daily life challenges, maintaining peace with others, being united with
God, building the spirit of faithfulness to God and living responsibly in the society
and ultimately having an eternal life.

Meaning of the Bible
The word ‘Bible’ comes from a Greek word biblion, which means a book. In its plural
biblia, which means books. There are several definitions of the Bible, some of them
are highlighted as follows:
The Bible is a collection of Sacred Writings. It is the Christian scriptures, consisting
of the Old and New Testaments. It is a book like no other. The Bible is the Word
of God, giving the message to humankind concerning the history of our Salvation.
Therefore, the Bible is the word of God through which He is directly speaking to
human being and the creation.

The meaning of Bible Knowledge
Bible Knowledge is a subject that deals with the knowledge about God. It deals with
accurate studying, understanding, observing, interpreting and applying biblical facts
into daily life.
