The concept of knowledge from the Bible
According to the book of Genesis, God placed a tree of knowledge of good and evil
in the Garden of Eden and commanded Adam and Eve not to eat fruits from the tree.
However, they both chose to disobey God (Genesis 3:1-6). Adam and Eve knew
intellectually about good and evil because of the commandment of God. Not all
knowledge is good (Romans 16:19). Remember that good knowledge is what God

wants us to know and believe. In the garden, Eve decided to believe in evil knowledge,
which is what Satan wanted her to know and believe. As a Bible student, you are
instructed to examine and meditate on the word of God. Satan always tries to trick
people (Jeremiah 17:9 & John 10:10).
The Bible has so much to say about knowledge, both good and evil. It teaches that
creation reveals the knowledge of God (Psalm 19:1-2). Sometimes, human knowledge
can cause pride and grief in society. Remember, God’s knowledge comes from fear
of the Lord (Proverbs 1:7).
Relationship between Bible Knowledge and other subjects
Bible Knowledge relates with many subjects for their direct applications in human life.
Bible Knowledge relates somehow with Mathematics, Biology, History, Geography,
Civics and languages. Like other subjects, Bible knowledge is concerned with the
nature of reality, meaningful life and obedience to God.
Bible Knowledge and Mathematics
Mathematical principles are used in daily life such as in counting people, things and
places. Considering Bible Knowledge principles in the Book of Numbers, the Israelites
were counted by Moses to get the number of men above 20 years who could go to war
(Numbers 1:1-3). Although the Bible does not offer an advanced study of mathematics,
yet the Book of Numbers points to the relevance of mathematics in the community.
Bible Knowledge and Biology
Both Bible Knowledge and Biology deal with the origin of life. Although the Bible
does not provide a detailed study of Biology, it does however recognise that God is
the ultimate source of all life. Reproduction is taken to be God’s command in the
Bible, where He instructed everything he created to multiply and be fruitful. Indeed,
procreation must be regarded as a process of recreating and subduing the life-giving
Earth for the growth of God’s nations (Genesis 1:28).
